🌐 IB PYP Early Years (Ages 3–5):Transdisciplinary, inquiry-based. Language as a transdisciplinary skill across six themes of global significance.

Developing early literacy through inquiry, play and storytelling in the IB PYP Early Years framework.

Key Topics Covered:
  • Oral language development and vocabulary
  • Listening and responding to stories
  • Phonemic awareness and print concepts
  • Emerging writing through drawing and mark-making

Learning Outcomes:Learners communicate ideas confidently through speech, begin recognising sounds and letters, and engage with stories through questioning and discussion.

🌐 IB PYP Years 1–2 (Ages 6–7):Language taught through the transdisciplinary themes. Mother tongue and additional language development emphasised.

Building foundational reading and writing skills within the PYP inquiry framework.

🌐 IB PYP Years 5–6 (Ages 10–11):Culminates in the PYP Exhibition — student-led inquiry. Strong bridge to MYP language acquisition and literature.

Strengthening analytical reading and writing in preparation for the PYP Exhibition and transition to MYP.

🌐 IB DP Year 12 / IB1 (Age 16–17):English A: Language and Literature — SL or HL. Internal Assessment: Individual Oral (15 min, recorded). External: Paper 1 & Paper 2.

IB Diploma English A: Language and Literature — developing analytical and interpretive skills with a wide range of literary and non-literary texts.

🌐 IB DP Year 13 / IB2 (Age 17–18):Final assessments. Paper 1 (1h 15min SL, 2h 15min HL). Paper 2 (1h 45min). IO contributes 30% (SL) / 20% (HL).

Final year of IB DP English A — consolidating analysis, completing Individual Oral and HL Essay for external assessment.

Key Topics Covered:
  • Individual Oral (IO) — 10 min oral + 5 min questioning
  • HL Essay (1,200–1,500 words) — HL only
  • Paper 1 practice: guided textual analysis
  • Paper 2 comparative essay on studied works
